Beit Sahour Municipality (“the Municipality”, “we”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal information we collect through our website and through the apps and services connected to it, including our Facebook app, how we use that information, and the choices you have.

Who is responsible for your information

Beit Sahour Municipality is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. Our contact details are at the end of this page.

Information we collect

• Messages you send us. When you use the contact form, we receive your name, your email address, your message and the language you wrote in. We also record the IP address the message was sent from, to protect the form against abuse.
• Information from Facebook. When you use our Facebook app, sign in with Facebook or contact the Municipality through Facebook, we receive only the information you choose to share and that Facebook allows us to see: usually your name, your profile picture and your Facebook user ID, your email address if you agree to share it, and any messages you send us.
• Technical information. Like most websites, our server keeps a short record of each visit (IP address, browser type, the page requested and the time), which we use only to keep the website secure and working.

We do not ask for sensitive personal information through the website or the Facebook app, and our services are not directed at children under 13.

How we use your information

• to answer your enquiries and provide the municipal services you ask for;
• to recognise you when you sign in with Facebook;
• to keep our website and services secure and prevent abuse;
• to meet our legal obligations as a local authority.

We do not sell personal information, we do not use it for advertising, and we do not use it to build profiles of visitors.

Cookies

The website uses only the cookies it needs to work: a session cookie, and a security cookie that protects forms from being submitted by other websites. Both expire shortly after your visit. We use no analytics or advertising cookies.

Services provided by others

Some pages show content from other services: videos from YouTube, which load from youtube-nocookie.com only when you choose to play them, and a Google Maps map on the Contact us page. Links to our Facebook and YouTube pages take you to those platforms. These services handle your information under their own privacy policies.

Who we share it with

Your information is seen only by the Municipality staff who need it to deal with your request, and by our hosting provider, which stores the website on our behalf. We disclose information to other authorities only when the law requires us to. We do not share it with anyone else.

How long we keep it

• Contact messages are kept for as long as we need them to deal with your enquiry and to meet the Municipality’s record-keeping obligations.
• Information received from Facebook is kept only while you use our Facebook app, and is deleted when you remove the app or ask us to delete it.
• Server records of visits are kept for a limited period and then deleted.

How we protect it

The website is served only over an encrypted connection (HTTPS), and access to the information we hold is limited to authorised staff.

Your rights

You can ask us what personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. To have your information deleted, follow the steps on our data deletion page. For anything else, contact us.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed, and the latest version is always the one published here.
